Uplogix to Participate in SATELLITE 2009 Conference Panel

Uplogix executive to discuss the impact of the economic downturn on current and new technologies in the satellite industry

Austin, Texas (March 23, 2009) – Uplogix, the leading provider of secure remote management (SRM) solutions, today announced their participation in the Satellite SWOT panel discussion at SATELLITE 2009 Conference held March 24th – 27th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.  Vice President of Product Management and Marketing Mark Piening will participate with satellite industry leaders in a panel titled “SATELLITE SWOT: New Opportunities, New Risks, New Technologies in Turbulent Times” on Friday, March 27 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. local time.

Mr. Piening will participate in a roundtable discussion addressing how the impact of the economy has affected current and new technologies in the satellite industry and as a whole.  Innovation has always been a hallmark of the global satellite-enabled marketplace, with new technologies contributing to smaller package design and lower equipment costs, not to mention creative use and re-use of spectrum to expand services without requiring additional allocations.  At the same time, service providers have decried rising launch and spacecraft costs in an era of constrained budgets and customer cost-cutting.  The panel will answer how satellite can continue to demarcate its top markets and services and if turbulent economic times dictate a return and a suspension of innovation as the marketplace rides the current downtown. The panel discussion will be moderated by Jason Bates, Editor of Access Intelligence LLC, Satellite Group.

The Uplogix SRM platform will be featured in the Iridium Satellite, LLC booth (#437).  Uplogix solutions increase satellite network uptime and reduce support costs by enabling operators to remotely manage, monitor and control both satellite and terrestrial-based network equipment.
