Uplogix Partners with STEP Electronics to Bring Local Management to Australia and the South Pacific

Satellite systems integrator will deploy Uplogix for expanded uptime while lowering support costs in their communication solutions.

AUSTIN, Texas (November 15, 2012) – STEP Electronics, a leading provider of a wide range of satellite communications systems, equipment and services within the Australian and South Pacific regions, and Uplogix, the leading provider of local network management, today announced a new agreement that will bring automated device control and recovery, and secure, persistent out-of-band access to customers.

Proven in satellite communications for both energy and defense applications, Uplogix deploys with remote networking and comms devices, connecting directly to manage them independently of the network. This local perspective reduces downtime with automated recovery capabilities, plus serves as an onsite toolbox for operators to securely manage distributed sites from the NOC.

STEP Electronics recently announced a new four-year contact for the design, supply and installation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) global satellite network covering 51 Australian embassies and other offices around the world. A subsidiary of Hills Holdings Limited, STEP Electronics will continue support for DFAT’s high security satellite communication requirements.

“We’re excited to partner with Uplogix,” said Paul Cope, National Manager of Satellite for STEP Electronics. “Their local management platform will ensure the strength of our satellite deployments from the aspect of both uptime and remote access security.”

Uplogix brings a variety of specialized features to the satellite arena in both fixed (auto-acquire) antennas and the stabilized antennas common in maritime applications. Both types of deployments benefit from the fact that Uplogix is local and connected directly to the network and communications devices common with satellite-enabled locations.

“Local Management has special appeal in the extremely remote and often highly secure networks served by satellite communications,” said Lisa Frankovitch, Vice-President of Sales and Business Development for Uplogix. “We’re excited to partner with STEP Electronics to deliver their customers the capabilities that have been proven from the battlefield to the oilfield to satellite-linked offices.”
