Uplogix Introduces Optimized Console Management Solution for the Solaris 10 Operating System

Attains Principal Partner Status in the Sun Partner Advantage Program

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Interop Las Vegas – May 21, 2007 – Uplogix, the leading provider of next-generation out-of-band management solutions, today announced the general availability of version 3.2 of Envoy and the Envoy Management Station (EMS), which together deliver an optimized console management solution to support SolarisTM 10 Operating System (OS) server platforms. Uplogix has achieved Principal Partner status in the Sun Partner Advantage Program (SPA) by meeting Sun’s stringent criteria for excellence as a supplier of out-of-band management solutions, and by committing to tight strategic and technical alignment with Sun.

"We congratulate Uplogix for attaining Principal Partner status and welcome them to this exclusive level of the Sun Partner Advantage Program," said Amir Raz, market segment manager, Sun Microsystems. "Uplogix’ management solutions for the Sun platform offer customers a highly secure, highly reliable method for managing the servers that power their business."

Many enterprises rely heavily on out-of-band management (OBM) tools for remote access to, and management of Solaris servers, as well as other critical IT infrastructure devices. However, customers now have an unprecedented need for sophisticated access and authorization controls to comply with internal security and external compliance requirements, which traditional OBM tools have failed to deliver. With its 3.2 product release, Uplogix has addressed these security and compliance challenges and has set a new standard for the secure management of Solaris platforms by ensuring that:

  • All client/server communication is encrypted and secure using SSHv2 during both in-band and out-of-band communication.
  • Each user accessing a Solaris environment is properly authorized and credentialed, providing both command-level control and role-based permissions.
  • Every remote Solaris session is properly terminated to prevent piggybacking and unauthorized access.
  • All console and user activity is logged, even during network outages, and inspected in real-time. Alarms can be generated and automated corrective actions can be taken based on specific patterns in the log data.
  • Compliance reporting for Solaris sessions is complete and easy to generate.

“Sun continues to be one of the leading innovators in our industry and Solaris 10 OS is the platform of choice for many of our customers," said Barry Cox, chief technology officer, Uplogix. "For too long enterprise customers have had to live with the limitations and security vulnerabilities of console servers to remotely access their IT infrastructure. Uplogix is changing the game by offering highly optimized and robust security and management functionality for the Solaris platform.”

About the Sun Partner Advantage Program
Introduced in September, 2005, the Sun Partner Advantage Program, for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), is designed to make it easier for ISVs to get the resources they need to go to market faster on the Solaris 10 OS, link with Sun’s Marketing, extend their sales reach, harness the expertise and connections of Sun’s partner ecosystem, and help grow their business. The Program helps create an increased level of collaboration among Sun and its ecosystem of technology partners. By participating in the Sun Partner Advantage Program, ISVs receive simplified, programmatic, Web-based access to the resources they need to help them succeed in each stage of the application life cycle: design, development, deployment, and operation.
