Uplogix demonstrates enterprise-class network management and automation for satellite networks at Satellite 2011
Product demos and panel discussions highlight this weeks activities at the 30th annual satellite conference in Washington DC
WASHINGTON DC (Mar. 14, 2011) – Uplogix, the leading provider of localized network management will be exhibiting at the Satellite 2011 Conference in Washington DC this week, providing product demonstrations of satellite device control and automation that increases uptime, reduces service costs and improves customer satisfaction in satellite networks.
Deployed on location, and connected directly to satellite infrastructure like antenna controllers, satellite modems, and BUCs — as well as traditional IP networking devices like routers and switches — Uplogix manages independently of the network, relaying information back to the operations center and its centralized management tools both in- and out-of-band. With the Uplogix Control Center, operators can manage Uplogix deployments at multiple sites, for easier access and remote troubleshooting across the entire network.
Uplogix founder and Chief Architect, James Dollar, will be moderating the Network Security panel at Satellite 2011 on Monday afternoon from 4:15 to 5:30. The discussion will cover the increasing focus on security in satellite networks as satellite becomes more common in business and governmental uses and seeks to incorporate lessons already learned in traditional networking.
At the Uplogix booth, #360, demos will include the Uplogix platform managing a Sea Tel digital antenna controller, iDirect satellite modem, as well as a Cisco router and switch. With the addition of a managed power controller, Uplogix can automate specific actions for satellite applications such as recovering a mobile satellite antenna from a blockage zone by pushing new configuration files to the satellite modem and DAC to retarget on a secondary satellite. This type of automation can help increase uptime while reducing the need for service calls and interventions.
