Uplogix and DTS partner to deliver monthly subscription-based services for managing remote networks

Award-winning automated remote management and out-of-band access now available without upfront equipment costs.

AUSTIN, TX (December 1, 2009) – Uplogix, the leading provider of remote network management automation and partner Data Technology Solutions (DTS) announce the availability of two new services designed to lower the capital costs of deploying technology to increase network uptime and reduce support costs.

Beginning immediately, DTS is offering both the Uplogix automated remote management (ARM) platform and a managed out-of-band (OOB) service over the Iridium RUDICS platform on monthly subscription bases available in one- and three-year contracts. This is the first time that the Uplogix products have been available through a rental program.

“We’re excited to work with DTS to offer a new model for deploying automation for network infrastructure at remote sites,” said Mark Piening, vice-president for product management and marketing for Uplogix. “Subscription-based services lower the barrier to entry and allow end-users and service providers alike the ability to pay as they realize the performance benefits and savings of increased network uptime and reduced support costs.”

The equipment rental program includes both models of the Uplogix ARM appliance—the fixed four-port Uplogix 430 and the Uplogix 3200 which is available in 8-, 16- and 32-port configurations. The Uplogix Control Center, a NOC-based centralized point for control for Uplogix ARM appliances and an Iridium modem package are also part of the program.

The OOB subscription service provides a network connection to remote gear anywhere on the planet over the Iridium RUDICS platform. RUDICS allows an end-to-end IP connection between a remote site and the customer’s NOC for access even when the primary network is down. The service includes RUDICS activation, a monthly block of Iridium minutes and the option for dedicated VPN or Internet connection to the Iridium gateway.

“At DTS we offer innovative ways to make communications easy, and part of simplifying the process is deploying technology where it is needed,” said Michael Guidroz, president of DTS. “Customers demand reliable networks without waiting for onsite personnel to fix or maintain devices, yet capital expense can be a distraction to solving the problem. With these new services we’re making it easier to ensure remote networks are more reliable and cost effective.”
