Uplogix provides customers with decreased opex in distributed it environments

Industry’s only complete local management platform now available on Cisco UCS Express blades

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (July 14, 2011) – Today at Cisco Live, Cisco’s annual IT and communications conference, Uplogix, the leading provider of local network management, today announced that its patented network management platform is now available for Cisco UCS Express blades. Complementing centralized management tools, Uplogix is located with and connects directly to managed devices, reducing OPEX, increasing security and improving service levels through fewer required site visits, less 3rd party support, more rapid problem detection and resolution and reduced compliance risk and effort.

Out of the box, Uplogix integrates with network infrastructure devices and can automate previously manual tasks, reducing 25-50 percent of branch office and other IT support costs. The Uplogix Local Management Platform running on Cisco UCS Express blades operates locally, augmenting central systems.  It provides localized network and systems management, reliable automation of complex tasks normally requiring an on-site technician, and secure out-of-band access for rapid resolution of problems that do require human attention.

“There are many IT tasks that are better handled locally, but leveraging IT administrators to visit and manage the processes is extremely resource and cost intensive,” said Matt Horner, vice president of Professional Services at leading systems integrator, World Wide Technology. “As one of the world’s largest Cisco Gold Certified Partners, we are eager to offer our customers the Uplogix platform to integrate with their existing management systems and bridge the gap.”

Centralized software tools cannot address many issues that require a local presence – either explicitly or to the level of confidence needed as organizations try to manage the network over the network.  The Uplogix local management platform does not rely on the WAN/LAN, meaning important monitoring and troubleshooting as well as data auditing for compliance continues, even if there are network outages.  There is almost no network performance overhead from management when the network is up and running.

“Adoption of new computing models and services, such as cloud and virtualized computing, SaaS, VoIP and telepresence, has greatly increased network dependence. At Uplogix, we are introducing a smarter edge,” said Tom Goldman, CEO of Uplogix. “Cisco UCS represents a major force in the server market and the combination of our technologies will bring significant value to our joint customers.”

Uplogix streamlines and simplifies the process of managing a network. Tasks that may have required site visits and taken days are now reduced to a matter of minutes. For example, an admin can conduct network-wide Cisco IOS Software upgrades of their routers with Uplogix, reducing the process from more than 10 manual steps per device to just a few steps to update all the routers. When problems occur, Uplogix can often correct them before traditional centralized management systems would have even detected them, dramatically improving service levels as seen by end users.  Customers currently using the Uplogix remote solutions have experienced ROI in less than a year.
