Data Technology Solutions sets standard for VSAT network reliability with Uplogix platform

Satellite communications company integrates Uplogix automated remote management technology into iDirect IP network

Austin, Texas (October 13, 2009) -; Uplogix, the leading provider of remote network management automation, announced that Data Technology Solutions (DTS) will leverage its technology to strengthen service quality for oil & gas, maritime and government applications. The partnership will improve DTS’ ability to remotely access and manage remote communications devices, including the company’s large deployment of iDirect network infrastructure, resulting in increased service uptime and reduced support costs.

“Our customers take satellite communications to some of the most remote locations on the planet,” said Michael Guidroz, President of DTS. “Adding Uplogix to our standard service offering is raising the bar for reliable connectivity to remote locations, and changing the economics to deliver a higher quality of service.  Our customers’ mobile and fixed satellite deployments for telephony and data applications will benefit from the secure access, control and enforcement that Uplogix provides, helping us drive the industry to a higher standard of service that customers can expect, beyond what traditional providers offered in the past.”

Uplogix solutions deliver the local access and control of a console server, the in-depth monitoring and diagnostics of systems management software, and the intelligence of an on-site technician into a single, integrated platform. Appliances are collocated and connected to satellite and traditional networking devices like iDirect and Cisco to maintain, configure, and autonomously fix routine IT infrastructure issues. Out-of-band functionality over the Iridium low earth orbit network ensures a management connection – even if the primary satellite link is down.

“By leveraging both iDirect and Uplogix, DTS is able to provide its customers with high-performance communication infrastructure and ensure their network performs at optimal levels. This is a critical business advantage as remote VSAT networks play a greater role in business operations across a wide range of vertical markets,” said Toni Lee Rudnicki, CMO, iDirect.

The expanding use of VSAT in Energy, Maritime and Government applications, means maintaining a network link is critical. Uplogix appliances manage hybrid devices, ensuring greater uptime with lower support costs.

“The solutions delivered by DTS are perfect examples of the remote networks that Uplogix strengthens with automated remote management,” said Mark Piening, VP Product Management and Marketing, Uplogix. “Whether at sea, or on land far from communications infrastructure, supporting remote networks can be very expensive, time consuming and even dangerous. We’re excited to partner with DTS to make those concerns a thing of the past.”
