This document describes the Lantronix Local Manager software release 6.4.2.

RELEASE SUMMARY

V6.4.2 supports the LM80, LM83X, 500, and 5000 Local Managers.

SOFTWARE RELEASES

LantronixOS-6.4.2.42482-all.bin

The bin file can be renamed if needed. The software can be updated via either the Control Center, or with the config update CLI command.

NOTES

Only upgrades from 6.1.x, 6.2.x, and 6.3.x are supported.

NEW FEATURES

  • Added support for multiple routing tables. Regardless of in-band or out-of-band state the user can connect to an LM from any of its IP addresses.
  • More file transfer operations for Cisco IOS now support "vrf" configuration.
  • Cisco "push os" improved compatibility for IOS 17.
  • Cisco "push os" improved compatibility for NXOS 9.3.
  • Improved Cisco "reboot" to handle more prompts.
  • Juniper "config authentication" now supports secondary credentials.
  • Ports configured as "enhanced" now support "enable" passwords.
  • New option "~o" on terminal command. This option starts a menu that allows the user to toggle DTR and RTS on the serial port. This can be helpful with devices like the RS-232 to USB console adapter.
  • Service processor commands can now be run against native and enhanced ports. For example: config service-processor show service-processor [config|sensor|events|power|info] service-processor [execute .* | power [on|off|cycle]]
  • The CLI command "show log system" can now export logs over SCP.
  • The CLI command "config update" with protocol "http" will display the retrieved filename based on content-disposition instead of the original URL.
  • New CLI command "config apn" added to the modem port. Previously a user would need to use the Control Center or AT commands to configure the APN. The cellular context ID can now be configured.
  • SSH now supports EdDSA with ed255519 client-keys.
  • Various branding changes have been made from Lantronix to Lantronix.
  • 6.4.2 - ROMMON recovery should boot the best OS it can
  • 6.4.2 - Device state detection can stop NXOS booting

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug that was reintroducing the Lantronix default certificate for heartbeat after upgrades.
  • Fixed DHCP on dedicated Ethernet when DNS settings are changed or the LM goes out-og-band.
  • Fixed intermittent bug with serial ports getting stuck.
  • Fixed intermittent bug with reverse SSH getting stuck.
  • Reject vlan 4095 and 4096 from "config system subinterface".
  • Fixed chassis "status" LED not flashing depending on certain option card installations.
  • 32-port serial card support was added in version 6.3.1. An LM83X with a 32-port serial card installed will now reject downgrades to versions below 6.3.1.
  • Fixed "show system route" to include host routes.
  • Fixed bug affecting dedicated Ethernet configuration when 32-port serial card is installed in slot 3 or 4.
  • Improved cleanup and messaging when secondary Ethernet is configured for out-of-band, but has no link.
  • Wait longer for Cisco stacked switches to come up before verifying "push os".
  • Fixed Cisco "pull config" to support mutlitple "end" tokens.
  • Allow "config system management" to complete when using Telnet or console and destination is not reachable.
  • LM will no longer decompress gzip content by default to avoid gzip HTTP bombing.
  • LM will now flash E3 LED to show acitivty for SFP.
  • 6.4.1 - Network traffic does not route over modem connection.
  • 6.4.1 - Out-of-Band connection sharing (WAN Traffic Failover) did not work.
  • 6.4.2 - Hotplug file can grow too big

DOCUMENTATION ERRATA

  • PPTP has been removed from the CLI for any new configurations. It is still supported if previously configured, but full support will be removed in the next release (6.5.x).

  • Manage changing custom heartbeat certificates for the entire deployment.
  • VRF configuration added to Default Port Settings and managed device Port Settings.
  • You can now schedule cron based recurring tasks from the Control Center.
  • Terminal Application now supports Ed25519 client keys.
  • Changed "Hide unconfigured" to not hide native ports with a description or IP.
  • Inventory Search box now has a white background based on customer feedback.
  • Events page for the LM now defaults to include port level events.
  • Alarms and Events pages now show a maximum of 100 results by default significantly improving performance, instead of calculating a 30 minute window.
  • Archive is now enabled by default while out-of-band for any new deployments. This is configurable by the user.
  • OS Policies can be configured to download staged files over out-of-band.
  • Added nonce to all inline JavaScript to improve security.
  • Various branding changes have been made from Lantronix to Lantronix.
  • 6.4.2 - CVE patches for OS (systemd, sqlite, libssh)

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug with the Terminal Application passing function keys.
  • Modal pop-ups now submit when the user clicks key.
  • Fixed issue with Inventory tree "Collapse All" and de-selecting hidden rows.
  • Fixed issue with Inventory tree "Collapse All" and empty groups.
  • Fixed bug where some Required Permission pop-ups did not display the permissions needed.
  • SSH button now works when Control Center is in FIPS mode and RSSH is enabled.
  • Fixed default sort for Add User to Group modal.
  • Fixed default sort for Auditing.
  • Improved validation for Add Allow Address under IPT.
  • Fixed bug with calendar pop-up and Firefox.
  • Improved performance of Inventory Group detail page when there are hundreds of LMs with 32 ports configured.
  • Fixed intermittent date formatting bug.
  • Multiple CVEs addressed.
  • 6.4.1 - CVE patches for OS (kernel, curl, python).
  • 6.4.1 - Web: Delete of IP filters broken on IP Protocols page.
  • 6.4.1 - Web: Rule and RuleSet promotion broken ("group" in select menu).
  • 6.4.1 - Web: IPT validation broken for some fields.
  • 6.4.1 - netSetup.sh fails with command not found for ifup/ifdown

DOCUMENTATION ERRATA

  • PPTP has been removed from the Control Center interface for any new configurations. It is still supported if previously configured, but full support will be removed in the next release (6.5.x).
