Uplogix launches next generation of the Local Management Platform

Uplogix 5000 and 500 Local Managers deliver expanded capabilities in smaller, more reliable form factors

AUSTIN, Texas (January 23, 2013) – Uplogix, the leader in Local Network Device and Machine-to-Machine Management today announced the General Availability of two new Local Management Platforms, the Uplogix 500 and the Uplogix 5000.

Uplogix Local Managers run the company’s Local Management Software (LMS) and reside with and connect directly to managed network and other devices providing heretofore unachievable levels of management functionality and reliability.

“With Local Management, which does not use the network to perform management tasks, customers can finally automate network changes and problem resolution, monitor much more intensively and apply security policies to audited administrative access – all witho3ut fear of painting themselves into a corner by taking the network down”, said James Dollar, VP of Product Strategy at Uplogix.

The two new state-of-the-art platforms are made specifically for LMS and include the facilities to connect directly to managed devices via their console ports.

“They are the most reliable and durable Local Managers that we have ever offered with no moving parts and more than double the anticipated service life of most enterprise class servers,” said Dollar. “This is critical to our customers that sometimes put them in very difficult to access locations.”

Uplogix Local Management hardware platforms combine the power of a management server with the connectivity of a console server in a single cost-effective, compact, reliable and energy efficient device. The Uplogix 500, announced today, is a 1U, less-than-half-rack device capable of directly managing up to 6 devices including a managed power device. The Uplogix 5000, announced earlier this year, is a 1U device capable of directly managing up to 22 managed devices, including power.
